Synopsis by Mark Deming
Fernando Bujones, a gifted soloist with the American Ballet Theater, stars in this production of the dance adaptation of a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann about a toymaker who fashions a life-size doll so lifelike many refuse to believe she isn't real. This version of Coppelia was staged in 1980 by the Ballets de San Juan in Puerto Rico, with Bujones as guest star.
