Between 1965, when he scored a hit single with "Guess My Eyes Were Bigger Than My Heart," and 1993, when he died unexpectedly of an abdominal aneurysm, Conway Twitty was one of the most consistent hitmakers in country music, earning more than 40 number one C&W singles with his strong, rich vocal style. Conway Twitty: On the Mississippi was a 1982 television special that featured Twitty and his guests traveling by riverboat as they visited the places where Twitty grew up. In addition to Twitty, the show also featured his frequent duet partner Loretta Lynn (both solo and performing a medley of hits with Conway), as well as Charlie Pride, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tammy Wynette, and comedian George Lindsey.
