Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Simon Yip directed this entertaining, if minor, Hong Kong youth film centering on the rehabilitation of a trio of juvenile delinquents. Meaty, Horlick, and Nutty Boy try to steal a car, get arrested, and are sentenced to six months probation with the stipulation that they take productive jobs in the form of delivering gas cylinders. Naturally, the boys don't have much enthusiasm for their court-mandated employment, and goof around so much that they are ready to be sent to prison. Luckily, they have a creative new parole officer named Big Hung who decides to help the boys by fueling their sole legal interest, competitive bicycle racing. Hung arranges it so that the boys can enter a team in the annual Youth Bicycle Race, knowing that they will need to work harder at their court-ordered delivery jobs in order to raise money to buy better bicycles and equipment. There is also an element of revenge in the boys' interest, having suffered humiliation at the hands of a team comprised of police cadets (led by Wong Kam-kong) which will also be competing in the race. Stephen Ho co-stars with Cindy Lau, Leung Siu-hung, and William Tang.
