Synopsis by Alice Day

Caring for a mother afflicted with Alzheimer's disease, a filmmaker daughter (Deborah Hoffmann) records the progression of the illness. Combining close-up camera work and scenes from home movies, Hoffmann contrasts her mother's present condition with her former lively, articulate self. She is frustrated by the forgetfulness and other symptoms, but strives to provide her mother with the attention and care necessary. Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter does not linger on the depressing aspects, and emerges as a statement of family support and love.
