One of those movies that is so mind-bendingly bad it's actually quite entertaining, Color of Night is unintentionally hilarious. Ample doses of exposed flesh put the film on par with cable television late-night adult fare, but the real reason to see the film is the giggle-inducing conceit of actress Jane March trying to pull off dual roles, one of which is supposedly unknown to the audience. Her lithe, feline features are so distinctive that no amount of makeup, hairpieces, or loose clothing can disguise her true identity, making the plot's 11th hour "revelations" a laugh. Bruce Willis sleepwalks through his role, while only co-star Lesley Ann Warren, reduced so often to the sexpot role in such underperforming potboilers, seems to understand the sullied nature of the material and chews the scenery appropriately. Although the film longs to be considered on a par with high-class sleaze like the work of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, Color of Night should have ended up in the straight-to-video file.
