Synopsis by Betsy Boyd
Classical Visions: Liszt - Freedom Rhapsody features one hour and 36 minutes of beautiful film footage set to the music of Franz Liszt. Viewers gaze upon dramatic scenes filmed on the Muranska Plateau of Slovakia. Wild horses run the lush terrain, enlivened by the 19th century Hungarian pianist's Freedom Rhapsody. Composer Franz Liszt was a troubled young virtuoso whose scandalous affair with a married countess forced him to abandon performing and become a composer. His music has been featured in several films, such as Song Without End (1960) and Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut (1999). This extended music video provides a good overview of the artist's unique style.
