Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
This video covers the highlights from the wartime 1943 World Series. Even with some of their key players off serving their country in World War II, the New York Yankees succeeded in settling the score from their prior year Series defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals by winning the Series four to one. Even though Joe DiMaggio was at war, that did not stop the Yankees and players Bill Dickey and Joe Gordon from winning against the Cardinals and their players Marty Marion and the up-and-coming Stan Musial. You will recall the players of yesterday as this tape recaps the highs and lows and the wins and losses of this 1943 Series.
