Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
The Civil War remains the bloodiest war in the history of the United States, as the North and South of the land engaged in a pitched battle over ideas and territory. Economics and slavery were two of those issues that rent the fabric of a nation and turned brother against brother. This series chronicles some of the key moments in the war's four-year progression. This volume looks at the events at Shiloh, in which outnumbered Union troops prevailed against a surprise attack by Confederate soldiers. The name of Ulysses S. Grant was added to the list of war heroes.
