Taking a cue from a similar program produced in the late '60s to early '70s, the French television series Cinema, of Our Time strives to profile some of the most important filmmakers of the era. This installment focuses on the maverick director Aki Kaurismaki, the Finnish creator of such dark, quirky fables as Leningrad Cowboys Go America and The Man Without a Past. He discusses his prolific, improvisational techniques over the course of the hourlong program.
