As performed by The Staatskapelle Dresden and conducted by Christian Thielemann, the 2011 classical concert in this release was mounted to celebrate the bicentenary of Franz Liszt. The theme of the bill was Faust; accordingly, the evening finds the Staatskapelel interpreting Richard Wagner's A Faust Overture (1855) and Liszt's A Faust Symphony (1857).
