Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Completed in late 1909, Biograph's Choosing a Husband was a rare comedy effort from D.W.Griffith. The heroine is ardently courted by four suitors, each man declaring his eternal fidelity. She decides to test their sincerity by arranging for her pretty sister to meet all four men. Sure enough, each of the would-be Romeos flirts outrageously with the sister, while the heroine, hiding behind a curtain, fusses and fumes. Finally, an old boyfriend shows up to claim the girl as his bride, leaving the four faithless suitors in the lurch. Choosing a Husband ran 532 feet, or roughly 7 minutes.
