Synopsis by Sarah Welsh
Inspired by the fantasy and dramatic promise of Venice, renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly set out to create a sight like no other -- an outdoor installation of 14 vibrantly colored and rhapsodically shaped chandeliers that would hang throughout the winding canals and alleyways of the old city. These otherworldly creations, childlike in their sheer wonder yet utterly sophisticated in their craftsmanship, simply have to be seen to be believed. For this behind-the-scenes look at the making of his masterpiece, cameras followed Chihuly and his team through every step of the laborious process from conception to final assembly -- including visits to the studios of elite glass blowers in Finland, Ireland, and Mexico. Shot in high-definition digital television (HDTV) for the sharpest and most brilliant images possible.
