Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
It was a big day for train aficionados, when Chicago hosted the National Railroad Historic Society's convention in 1993. Vintage locomotives were on display, as well as famous trains like the Zephyr and Electro-Liner. This program gives the viewer a tour of the historic iron horses gathered in the train yard, as well as at the Illinois Railway Museum. Then it's all aboard for a ride on the Union Pacific Challenger 3895. The excitement concludes with an excursion powered by ex-Nickel Plate engines 587 and 765, along the old Nickel Plate main line.
