This well-wrought, 1960 documentary records an upsurge in the desecrations of synagogues and similar acts of racist and religious vandalism around Europe at the end of 1959. Not quite an hour in running time, the docu by director Alberto Caldana begins with a background on Hitler's "final solution" and the fate of the Jews at the hands of Nazis and fascists in the second World War. The black-and-white clips that illustrate this background contrast with the color photography of current desecrations, as though a dead past were revivifying like an ugly, reanimated corpse from some gross horror film.
