Synopsis by Nathan Southern
In this unique classical concert event, mounted at the opulent Chateau de Versailles, mezzo-soprano diva Cecilia Bartoli explores the music of the enigmatic yet celebrated priest Agostino Steffani. Director Olivier Simonnet takes the reins to present a cinematic interpretation of Bartoli's album Mission. In the film, Bartoli performs many tracks from that critically-acclaimed recording, against Versailles backdrops such as the famed Hall of Mirrors. She is accompanied throughout by the Baroque ensemble I Barrochisti, directed by Diego Fasolis. Philippe Jarrousky also turns up as a special guest star to duet with Bartoli.
