Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Very cheaply produced and starring a dog that was advertised as a new Rin Tin Tin, Captured in Chinatown was the third and last of three Tarzan the Police Dog melodramas produced by Poverty Row regular Bert Sternbach. While Tarzan may not have the chutzpa of his famous predecessor, he certainly takes the acting honors in this opus which was directed with his usual heavy hand by former Griffith protégé Elmer Clifton. Charles Delaney was a frequent visitor to neighborhood houses and Marion Shilling enjoyed some popularity with the cowboy trade, but they were both defeated by Sternbach's skimpy sets leased from low-rent Argosy Studios.
