Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Captain Scarlet vs. the Mysterons is a feature-length compilation of scenes from the weekly TV series of the same name. Produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the film employs the Andersons' patented "Supermarionation" technique, previously seen on such programs as Fireball XL-5, Stingray and Thunderbirds. Lifelike marionettes are moved about utilizing gossamer-thin strings, operated electronically. Set in the 21st century, the film pits the courageous Captain Scarlet against a group of invading Martians known as the Mysterons. Elements of Captain Scarlet later resurfaced in the Andersons' 1970 live action series UFO. Listed in most sources as a 1982 film, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons was apparently completed in 1967, the year that the series ran on British television in Prime Time (it was syndicated to the US in 1968).
