Synopsis by Emru Townsend
Scharnhorst is out on a midnight ride with Fessenden, a scientist who has figured out how to access an ancient orbiting laser satellite. Impressed by its destructive power but unsatisfied with his jury-rigged control mechanism, Scharnhorst agrees to help him find the satellite's control station -- located deep in Grith territory, where only Jack can navigate safely. The next day, Scharnhorst convinces Jack to go into the Grith's domain by telling him that the satellite is a solar satellite, which can gather clean energy they can use to benefit the city's people. Jack doesn't trust her motives, and asks Hannah to accompany him and Fessenden in case there's more to the story. Later that night, the Grith try to make Jack turn back, but he convinces them to give him time to sort things out -- but when they find the station, the sudden arrival of the Terhunes throws a wrench into his backup plan.
