Review by Michael Betzold

Introspective and outrageous, Bulletproof Heart explores the outer limits of the human psyche. Mimi Rogers, known for her unorthodox choice of roles, is at the twisted emotional center of this bizarre psychological thriller, also known as Killer, in which a hit man (Anthony LaPaglia) is assigned to kill the socialite played by Rogers. The first plot twist is that she wants to die. The second is that he falls in love with her. More strange happenings ensue, with all the proceedings taking place in a single night. Director-screenwriter Mark Malone creates a darkly seductive, highly atmospheric picture that challenges audiences on the issues of love, morality, and death. The kinky, morbid plot situations and dialogue teeter between mesmerizing and preposterous, depending on one's taste.
