Synopsis by Alice Day
In a society that places high regard on thinness, young women who seek these body images find themselves in a cycle of binge eating, then vomiting, then eating again. Once in this behavior mode, they find it difficult to stop. Unless there is professional intervention, these women will lose drastic amounts of weight, and are in danger of dying of starvation in a wealthy society. In Bulimia: The Binge-Purge Obsession, several women discuss their experiences with bulimia, and Dr. Anita Siegman talks about the typical signs of someone who might be suffering from this disorder.
