This unusually realistic award-winning German film examines the life of Bruno, an outcast from society. The story begins with his mother abandoning him in an asylum when he is three. The film follows Bruno's life from youth to middle age, chronicling in particular the Nazi era, the postwar period and the plight of the myriad victims of genocide.
