Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Betty Morton (Evelyn Greeley) is heiress to the fortune of her uncle, Theodore Morton (Ben Johnson). She is being courted by two foreigners, the Duke of Medonia (Morgan Wallace) and Lord Dormer (Oliver Smith). Morton thinks these two are more interested in his money than in his niece, so he pretends that his fortune has been lost. It turns out he was right -- the Duke and Lord make graceful, but hasty, exits. But the secretary of Morton's banker knows the truth and she tells her fiance Carl Gates (Lyster Chambers). With this knowledge, Gates decides to woo Betty. He poses as a rich man and proposes to her. Betty, who still believes her uncle is broke, accepts to save her uncle's position. Later she is saved from drowning by yachtsman Tom Waring (Reginald Denny), and he also proposes. Although Betty loves him, she turns him down because she is already engaged. Meanwhile, Gates' fiancee finds out about his involvement with Betty and tells all to Morton. Morton hands the girl a huge sum of money, providing she marry Gates. She does, which leaves Betty free to wed Waring.
