Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Viewers are introduced to one of 150 dog breeds during each episode of this Discovery Channel series. Veterinarians, owners, trainers, and breeders share helpful information about each dog's temperament and habits so that current and future owners can take better care of these animals. Everyday family pets and more exotic breeds are featured. This episode features the golden retriever, a dog that's easily trained and makes a great family companion. Some experts believe these dogs were first bred in the British Isles and that their ancestors may have included spaniels and setters. Today, golden retrievers are often trained to help the blind and disabled.
