Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Viewers are introduced to one of 150 dog breeds during each episode of this Discovery Channel series. Veterinarians, owners, trainers, and breeders share helpful information about each dog's temperament and habits so that current and future owners can take better care of these animals. Everyday family pets and more exotic breeds are featured. This episode features the collie, a dog first bred in Scotland that's now popular in many parts of the world. Collies have been used as sheepdogs for centuries. As experts reveal, this dog was probably named for one of the sheep its ancestors guarded, called the colley.
