Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Breakthrough is a little-seen West German film, lensed shortly after the construction of the Berlin Wall. Eric Schuman plays Harry Dolling, a railroad worker living in East Berlin. Disenchanted with Communism, Dolling plans to cross the border to the West, but the ominpresence of The Wall prevents this. Stealing the train on which he works, Dolling fires up the engine and attempts to smash through all the barriers separating him from freedom. Maria Korber costars in this pulse-pounding wish-fulfillment piece.
