Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

Six films are gathered under this title in a festival anthology. The first is a highly experimental musing on the aftereffects of a gay bashing, entitled Resonance. The second, R.S.V.P., chronicles the reactions of the family and friends of an AIDS victim who, just before he died, had requested that an operatic song, La Spectre de la Rose, be played by the local classical radio station. Each person has a different way of coping with grief when they return from his funeral and hear the song played. In Anthem, the viewer is treated to homoerotic imagery flashing onscreen to the rhythms of hip-hop, poetry, and pure percussion. Relax shows a young man enduring a ten-day waiting period between his taking an HIV test and hearing of the results. Secret chronicles the relations between two roommates, one of them an insensitive homophobe, and the other a closted gay man. The Dead Boys Club is the final film, and it provoked the most interest in viewers. The story concerns a young gay man from Wisconsin visiting an older gay cousin in New York city. It seems that whenever he puts on a pair of boots belonging to the cousin's dead lover, he is transported back in time to the gay disco scene of the 1970s.
