Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
Construction workers who dynamite a brick wall blast their way into the 13th century in this fantasy from Meredith Monk. Using 20th-century reporting devices like cameras and microphones, interviews with people of the medieval era reflect the concerns of their simplified lives. Famine, war, leprosy, and plagues are foremost on the minds of the citizens. The feature draws parallels between the two centuries, with those from the 13th century having little understanding of stress -- and their expectations, including life expectancies, were low.
