It's Bob and Margaret's first Christmas in Canada, but neither is particularly excited. Bob remembers the disappointments of Christmases past, like when his father coldly revealed the truth about Santa Claus; Margaret's nasal singing voice irritates the church choir (not to mention any dogs or cats in earshot); and they don't have any real friends in England or Canada. As they resolve to enjoy Christmas by themselves and celebrate with their little family, they get a phone call from Cookie and Melvin, insisting that they come over for a Canadian-style Christmas dinner (based on a casual invitation seven years earlier). Reluctantly feeling the pull of obligation, they decide to endure Christmas with the few family members that want them around. (Originally aired December 14, 2001.)
