Synopsis by Mark Deming

A master swindler tries to pass his talent on to another with unexpected results in this comedy drama from India. Roy Kapoor (Abhishek Bachchan) is a talented confidence man who has built a successful career out of fooling people about who he really is and what he really wants. There are only two people around whom Roy feels he can truly be himself -- his girlfriend, Simmi (Priyanka Chopra), who knows only so much about his life of crime, and Aditya Srivastav (Ritesh Deshmukh), a fellow con man. When some sordid business from Roy's past comes back to haunt him, he loses Simmi and begins to wonder about his future. While Aditya may be a con man, he is a rank amateur compared to Roy, and Aditya begs him to teach him all he knows about the trade. Unsettled by losing Simmi, Roy agrees, but the sloppy and inept Aditya is not as especially good student, though the two become close friends as they share their knowledge of the con game. Roy soon learns the hard way, however, that the worst thing a con artist can do is start trusting someone. Bluffmaster was directed by Rohan Sippy, the son of veteran Indian filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, who served as producer for this film.
