Synopsis by Alice Day
This series about man's interaction with the seas continues with an examination of the devastating effects of the weather system known as "El Niño." The Blue Revolution: The Return of the Child: The Effects of El Niño looks at global disasters spawned by El Niño, including catastrophic droughts, dust storms, unusually high and low tides, and adverse fishing conditions. During 1982 and 1983, India, Peru, the U.S., and Australia suffered the ill effects of El Niño. How the system is bred from unique combinations of sea and atmospheric conditions is discussed.
