Synopsis by Alice Day
In this continuing study of man's interactions with the seas, a prime issue has been the ecological aspects of the relationship. The Blue Revolution: The Ocean Planet: The Death of the Mississippi is an analysis of the ways in which man's lack of environmental concern has poisoned waterways that lead to the seas. In particular, the Mississippi River, once a sparkling source of pride, has become dark and befouled with heavy metals and other forms of pollution. The use of the oceans as dumping grounds for waste materials is symbolic of man's mindless abuse of natural resources.
