This picture was one of a series based on the stories of O. Henry. John Lorison (Carleton King) exiles himself to New Orleans after some trouble at home. While dining in a cheap restaurant he befriends Norah Greenway, an attractive young woman (Jean Paige). He falls in love with her, but is compelled to confess his story before he proposes to her: He stole money from the company he worked for and gambled with it; he won, but that very same night, thieves broke into the office and stole the exact amount he had taken. Because the suspicion surrounding him left a moral stain, he took off for New Orleans. But Norah admits that she too is a reformed thief who once stole jewels from an opera singer, and the two wed. Norah insists, however, on being left on the street corner, just as she always was after their prior dates. Lorison begins to wonder about his new bride, and he goes to Father Rogan, who married them (John Costello), to ask what kind of girl she really is. Father Rogan takes him to Norah's home and introduces him to a little boy (Aida Horton). The child says that Norah has told him that this will be the last time she is out all night. Lorison immediately assumes that Norah is a prostitute, and that the boy is her child. But then Father Rogan takes him to a dressmaking shop, where Norah has been working days and nights to give her little brother a good life. The minister explains to Lorison that out of love, Norah had lied to him about being a thief.
