Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This program presents a portrait of perhaps the most famous mother in history: Mary of Nazareth. The mother of Jesus was only 14-years-old when she became pregnant. But Joseph believed her story that she had been visited by an angel and had conceived the Son of God. The program considers how that story played in her neighborhood, as the unwed teenager endured contempt, ridicule, and possible death. Her faith and perseverance then and at the cross have made the name of Mary the most revered in Christianity. In 1954, the Pope declared that she had risen directly into heaven at her death. Archival materials, scholarly commentary, reenactments, and personal testimonies, tell the story of Mary of Nazareth.
