Through a concoction of music, animation, and never-before-heard interviews done by journalist Linda Lipnack Kuehl with Billie’s family, friends, former prison inmates, lawyers, and figures such as Tony Bennett, Count Basie, and Charles Mingus, this documentary film tells the colorful life that was led by one of the most recognized jazz vocalists in music history.
