Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As directed by Peter Stern and narrated by Jude Law, this biographical documentary profiles William Turnbull, a sculptor widely regarded as the originator of modernism in Great Britain. The film traces Turnbull's remarkable journey, from his economically strained origins in the shipyards of Dundee, England, to his meteoric rise to the pinnacle of the art world. Along the way, Turnbull mingled with such legendary figures as Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti, enlisted in the Royal Air Force, and much more - much of which gets detailed here. Alex Turnbull, the sculptor's son, produced and co-directed the film; 23 Skidoo composed the soundtrack music.
