Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Jean-Baptiste Léonetti's minimalist thriller Beyond the Reach stars Michael Douglas as Madec, a cold-hearted and very wealthy businessman who hires a young tracker named Ben (Jeremy Irvine) to go into the Mojave with him in order to shoot rare game. Early in their hunt, Madec accidentally shoots a man, and -- not wanting to spend time in jail, or screw up a multimillion-dollar deal he is trying to finalize -- he concocts a plan to pin the man's death on Ben. This leads to a grueling cat-and-mouse chase through harsh conditions. Beyond the Reach screened at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
