Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Even at the standard five reels, the well-worn story to this drama seemed rather long. While James Fordham (Lawson Butt) is away prospecting in Alaska, his wife runs off with Truman Breese (Melbourne McDowell). She manages to make her way back to her husband, but dies shortly thereafter. Fordham's only clue to the man who tricked and then betrayed his wife is a design on a letter. When he finds this design reproduced on a sign next to his property, he takes the name of John Pierce and goes looking for the culprit, whom he knows must be nearby. He discovers Breese just as he is about to marry Leila Wilkes (Ora Carew), a beautiful young woman who Fordham has come to love himself. He tricks Breese by pretending to be his ally in a crooked business deal. Then he ruins the deal and exposes Breese as the villain he is. When Fordham goes to Leila and tells her the truth, he wins her.
