Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Wah-kei directed this minor crime comedy starring Alex Manas Jen Ching-hsing, a policeman who was forced to leave the department after a scandal and has become a con artist since, taking in a number of police officers who don't know about his shady past. Paul Chun stands out as Pao Pu-ping, who figures out that Ching-hsing isn't quite what he appears and decides to test his theory in a high-stakes card game which is the film's comic highlight. Jacky Cheung co-stars as a drug addict who knows all about Ching-hsing's checkered past, and Jimmy Wong rounds out the above average cast. Joyce Mak's screenplay misses a number of comic opportunities, but the players acquit themselves nicely and raise the material above what it might have become otherwise.
