Synopsis by Jack Rodgers
Documentarian Arne Birkenstock explores the astonishing true story of German art forger Wolfgang Beltracchi, who created and sold "lost" paintings by famous artists for almost 40 years before being exposed. Beltracchi's talents allowed him to mimic just about any painter or style, and he and his wife then presented the works as originals that belonged to her family's collection. However, his luck ran out when an art expert performed a forensic analysis on a painting he made that was supposedly from 1915, and realized it contained a pigment that didn't exist at that time.
