Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Gaston de Nerac (Carlyle Blackwell) is in love with Joanna Rushworth (Phyllis Titmuss), but in order to save the fortune of her father (Alfred Woods), he has to sign a paper practically giving her up to the wealthy Comte de Verneuil (Owen Roughwood). Joanna, believing that she has been jilted by Gaston, marries the Comte. Gaston goes to London, where he adopts a washerwoman's son, whom he names Asticot (Albert Chase). They go to Brittany, where Gaston changes his name to Paragot and finds Blanquette, an orphan (Madge Stuart). The three become vagabonds, singing and playing their instruments as they wander the countryside. One day Gaston spies Joanna again and becomes so depressed that he sends Asticot and Blanquette away and goes on a bender. On his deathbed the Comte confesses the truth behind his marriage to Joanna, and she tracks down Paragot. Paragot has become so acclimated to his bohemian ways that he can't return to his old life. Instead, he fetches Asticot and Blanquette and hits the road again.
