Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The French Pathe studios sent its cameramen to a neighboring country for this half-reel "scenic." Actually, it's the Belgian cavalry, rather than the regular army, which was spotlighted herein. The cavalry was shown going through drills and maneuvers, culminating in an all-out display of expert horsemanship. Also given screen time were the activities of infantry, lancers, artillery and grenadiers, though these troops were still not as well represented as the cavalry. Little did Belgium, or any other country for that matter, realize that the next war would not be won on horseback.
