Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Billy Chan Wui-ngai spins this good-natured romantic comedy about Hong Kong's passion for horse-race betting. Mark (Lau Ching-wan) is an affable everyday Joe who is obsessed with the horses. He spends much of his time hanging out with his buddies Hark (Michael Chow Man-kin) and Bowie (Bowie Lam Bo-yee) discussing their next half-baked scheme to rake in the cash. May (Jacqueline Wu Chien-lien) is Mark's long-suffering girlfriend who puts up with his unprofitable hobby. She is, however, growing very impatient after waiting for ten years hoping for marriage but with no ring in sight. When Hark lands in hot water with a gangland loan shark, Mark is forced to use the money he saved for his wedding to bail out his buddy. This proves to be the last straw for May and she promptly dumps him. Mark bets all he has in a last-ditch effort to pay for the wedding and win back his love.
