Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This program is part of a three-volume series that addresses issues that face young people as they make choices which affect their self-image and set into motion forces that can become the beliefs and habits of a lifetime. Using animation and real teenagers, the programs illustrate each point. This episode examines the ways that the advertising industry affects and influences adolescents, who are still so unsure of their identities and personal significance. The program looks at the way diet and muscle-building programs are marketed to appeal to teenage insecurities. By way of contrast, alternatives including meditation and nutritional eating practices are presented, in which balance and moderation are the key to a healthy lifestyle.
