Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Debutante Hope Merrill (Mabel Taliaferro) returns home one day to find her financier father Amos Merrill (Frank Currier) on the verge of committing suicide. Rather than reveal the truth -- that he has misappropriated funds from his own company -- Merrill claims that he has been ruined by young John Cook (Clifford Bruce), Hope's sweetheart. Though Hope turns her back on John, he secretly wheels and deals to restore her father's fortune. Unaware of this, Hope agrees to marry John, intending to destroy him as she believes he destroyed her father. She succeeds in this endeavor, only to discover that her father was lying about John all along. Her eyes opened at last, Hope rushes to John and begs his forgiveness. The script for Barricade was written pseudonymously by a man who, understandably, didn't want his name associated with the finished product.
