Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

This film is made up of three episodes. Each episode focuses on life in an independent Baltic state during 1991. The first "Estonian Spring 1991: Mattias and Ann" tells the story of young Mattias, the last Estonian political prisoner to be released from a Russian jail. Ann, an actress at the Tallinn theater is his wife. While he was imprisoned, she fell in love with another. She explains that she never intended to have a life without him. It just happened. The second "Latvian Summer 1991: Regina and Sergei," chronicles the love between Sergei, a Russian paratrooper, and Regina, a Latvian. Things go well until two patriotic friends who saved him, intervene. In the third episode "Lithuanian Autumn 1991: Vytatutas and Juozas," an innocent seminary student is attracted to a stripper from Tallinn. She is part of a travelling revue "Jazz and Sex." His priestly uncle advises him, but the student persists and gives a speech comparing the stripper's body parts to Biblical spices.
