Review by Karl Williams

Seeking to give the girls fair play after the success of the Young Guns franchise seems to be the raison d'ĂȘtre for this numbingly stupid oater that was written in two weeks and shows it in every embarrassing frame. The fact that a quartet of frontier whores are gorgeous, fairly well-educated, and possess an astonishing degree of skill in horseback riding, roping, shooting, dynamite usage, and hand-to-hand combat flies directly in the face of everything that is known about prostitutes, both then and now. Female empowerment isn't a half bad concept for a revisionist Western, but genre rules and the demands of history seem only to have been taken into account in the costuming department (although even there, the film's characters display a remarkable lack of soiling given their circumstances and environment). The production design, employing sets constructed for The Alamo (1960), is terrific, and the female leads never look less than fetching, too much so by half, in fact, their hair and makeup never mussed up too any authentic degree. Bad Girls looks good, but is one seriously flawed, dumb, wasted opportunity of a movie.
