Synopsis by Mark Deming

Three women react in different ways to a family crisis in this drama from Argentina. Marina (Maria Canale), Sofia (Martina Juncadella) and Violeta (Ailin Salas) are three sisters who were raised by their grandmother and still live in her home. When Grandmother dies, all three are emotionally devastated, but they find themselves at odds about what to do. Marina, the oldest, doesn't want to upset the order of things and prefers to keep everything as her grandmother left it. Sofia, however, thinks they should move forward and wants to redecorate the house. And Violeta is a slacker who has retreated into lethargy, losing what little ambition she has left in the wake of the tragedy. To the surprise of her sisters, one day Violeta abruptly leaves, having chosen to run away with her boyfriend, and Marina and Sofia are forced to resolve their differences on their own. Abrir Puertas y Ventasnas (aka Back To Stay) was the first feature film from writer and director Milagros Mumenthaler.
