Synopsis by Hal Erickson

John Emerson, the talented if erratic actor-director husband of screenwriter Anita Loos, called the shots for the Famous Players feature The Bachelor's Romance. Emerson also played the leading role of David Holes, a confirmed bachelor who finds himself saddled with a ten-year-old girl when an old friend dies. Holes arranges for the girl to be raised in the country, where of course she blossoms into a gorgeous young woman. Years later, the girl's boyfriend enters a story-writing contest, for which Holes is one of the judges. Not knowing of the relationship between the boy and his ward, Holes bestows a $10,000 first prize on the fledgling author. The boy intends to use this money to marry the girl, but by this time Holes has fallen in love with the heroine himself. Realizing that he has provided the very means that may take the girl away from him forever, Holes works overtime in the final reels to win her back.
