Meng (Mi Yang) is a young woman who lives at home with her elderly foster mother who has raised her since she was abandoned by her birth parents as a baby. Whilst Meng conducts her janitor duties at a children’s hospital, she sees a baby with the same genetic disorder as her have her treatment stopped by her parents, a decision that will lead to her death. Meng sets upon an obsessive campaign to convince the parents to change their minds as she searches across legal and bureaucratic fields in order to convince them to change course.
