Providing audiences with a comprehensible storyline is regarded as pandering in the sternly held view of the director of this film, and viewers had best be prepared for a barrage of meaningful but unexplained images and symbols in this difficult but expertly made rumination on the country of Armenia and its history as it is meditated upon by an Armenian living in modern-day Germany. Images ranging over the entirety of Armenia's long history emerge, along with impressions of that country's disastrous 1989 earthquake. Along the way, various opinions come to the surface regarding the sorry plight of foreign residents in Germany, sexual awakening, and the corruption of filmmaking as an art form.
